Vehicle Description
Body Styles & Trims
The vehicle is highly customizable and comes in three main configurations:
Sedan: A compact four-door layout competing with the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
Cabriolet: A two-door convertible layout featuring a power-folding soft top.
Sportback e-tron: A versatile plug-in hybrid hatchback variant.
Trim Levels: Offered across three standard tiers: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige.
Powertrain & Performance
For the North American market, the 2017 A3 simplified its lineup by utilizing variations of a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine:
Front-Wheel Drive (FWD): Generates 186 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, mated to a newer 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Quattro All-Wheel Drive (AWD): Generates 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, utilizing a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Fuel Economy: Delivers roughly 25 mpg city / 34 mpg highway for FWD variants, and 24 mpg city / 31 mpg highway for Quattro models.
Interior & Premium Technology
Despite its entry-level positioning, the 2017 A3 maintains Audi's strict premium cabin standards:
Standard Luxury: Features leather seating surfaces, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof on sedan variants
Audi MMI System: Uses a retractable dashboard screen controlled via a console dial, featuring smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Virtual Cockpit: Available on higher trims, replacing the traditional gauge cluster with a fully digital, customizable 12.3-inch display capable of showing full-screen navigation maps.
Safety Features
Safety equipment on the 2017 Audi A3 includes both passive and active assist systems:
Audi Pre Sense Basic: Prepares the cabin for an impending impact by closing windows and tensioning seatbelts.
Audi Pre Sense Front: Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking comes standard.
Driver Assists: Available blind-spot monitoring (Side Assist) and rear cross-traffic alert |
